I heard about the IRS’s fresh start initiative. What exactly is it?
The Fresh Start Initiative is a program that started several years ago. The idea is that a taxpayer can pay their tax debt over six years of monthly installment agreement payments. And if they have … their debt is under $10,000, the IRS will not file a lien against them. Additionally, if their tax debt is in excess of $10,000, and a lien is filed, the IRS will remove the lien once the taxpayer has made three direct debit payments against their installment agreement.
