October Tax Extension

The clock is ticking for taxpayers who filed for an extension on their 2019 taxes. October 15th is right around the corner. The IRS says you and your preparer should use the electronic filing option, one, because it’s fast and convenient, and two, it supports social distancing guidelines that are still in place.

While October 15th is the deadline, there are a few categories of people who still have even more time, including members of the military and others serving in the combat zone, as well as taxpayers in federally declared disaster areas who already have a valid extension.

Experienced Sarasota Tax Professional

Obviously, if you didn’t file for an extension and you want to avoid further penalties and interest, you should file the return and pay what you owe ASAP. Once your tax preparer has completed your return, he or she can set up the process for electronic payments and refunds, and show you how to track them as well.

As we said, the clock is ticking and you want to make sure every I is dotted and every T is crossed, so call an experienced Sarasota tax professional to help you through the process. Called tax attorney, Mary King, today or visit taxlawyerflorida.com.
